On if there are any parts of “Jay, 50, Weezy” that he thinks about differently now that he’s established his career:
I don’t take any of that stuff back because I’ve seen some evolution in those artists since I wrote that song, which I’m proud of. It’s nice that Lil Wayne just opened a skatepark in New Orleans to give the kids an outlet so they don’t have to continue shooting and killing each other. I feel that. I feel the fact that Jay-Z is making moves, signing artists like J. Cole, Jay Electronica who obviously have something to say. He just held a campaign fundraiser for [Barack] Obama. Things of that nature. I’m proud of that. 50 Cent has the whole Street King movement - the energy drink. [The proceeds] are trying to feed hungry families around the world. I feel that. That’s progress. I’m not mad at them dudes. I’m happy to see that. It wasn’t like that when I wrote [“Jay, 50, Weezy”], though. It definitely wasn’t like that.
